Research Associate - Project Malawi

Professors Hyuncheol Bryant Kim and Jim Berry (Cornell University) seek qualified applicants for a position as a Research Associate in Lilongwe, Malawi. The Research Associate will work on projects in mother and child health and nutrition, HIV/AIDS prevention in secondary schools, and scholarships and tutoring in primary schools. The position will offer an opportunity to gain first-hand field management experience in an organization undertaking cutting-edge development research.

Key Responsibilities

The Research Associate will work closely with academic researchers and other field staff to perform a variety tasks including, but not limited to:

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in economics, social sciences, public health, or related fields. Training in microeconomics and econometrics/statistics is preferred. A Master’s degree in economics or a related field is also a plus
• Past experience living in a developing country and working in the health and/or education sectors is a strong plus
• Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills
• Fluency and excellent communication skills in English
• Flexibility, self-motivation, ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and ability to work in teams
• Ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations
• Knowledge of Stata (strongly preferred) or other data analysis software is preferred
• Familiarity with randomized controlled trials is preferred
